someone in some future time will think of us

On Friday, March 3rd, 2023 MALACARNE performers activated the Seattle Center Monorail for a unique, intimate and immersive performance entitled: someone in some future time will think of us. MALACARNE performers will celebrate the intersection of architecture and history in an intimate experience that takes inspiration from the structure, the history, the people and their own personal histories in relation to the Seattle Center Monorail.

will think of us” ― Sappho, The Art of Loving Women

This project is a research on emotional geography, presenting an experimental site-responsive dance performance that takes place inside of the Seattle Center Monorail. MALACARNE created four 15-minute cycles of performance to be viewed simultaneously by audience members and commuters. Five MALACARNE performers utilize the monorail’s benches, architecture and sound system. The production included solo and group work, set choreography and improvisation. Musician/composer ings created a unique sound score for the performance. Following MALACARNE’s missions and values, we worked respectfully in direct relationship with a space, and the caregivers and users of that space - letting it inspire us through its history, architecture and our personal memories.
