BODIES OF WATER
In 2016 Friends of Waterfront Seattle, commissioned Alice Gosti to choreograph BODIES OF WATER, a 5-hour hybrid performance spectacle produced in collaboration with Velocity Dance Center and composer Benjamin Marx.
BODIES OF WATER was a site-specific celebration of the City of Seattle and its complex relationship with water as a spiritual entity, transitional space and port. As a political performance BODIES OF WATER pressed into the refugee crisis and mass migration, as well as Native American fishing rights in the Northwest and water ecology. Bodies of water was then selected to participate in a festival for site-specific performance in New York City - INSITU. Here we used parts of the original performance, adapted them and translated them to this new park. All responding and integrating the history of the park and the relationship that New York has with its waters.
